MEET THE FOUNDER

Janine Johnson’s journey in nonprofit work began shortly after she moved to the United States from Brazil in 2000. While studying dietetics, she interned in the food service department at Kids in Distress, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting vulnerable children. Her dedication quickly stood out, and after a year, the organization extended her student visa to a work visa and promoted her to Food Service Manager.

During her time there, Janine developed a deep connection with the children and was inspired to begin organizing events to bring them joy and support. Though her passion for helping kids was clear, she ultimately shifted her focus to building a professional career.

Today, Janine is a proud mother of two boys, a devoted wife, and a successful entrepreneur. She is a co-founder of C&J Architecture and Interiors and a real estate investor. Despite her achievements in business, her heart has always remained with the cause that first inspired her.

With Oceans for Kids Foundation, Janine is fulfilling her long-held dream of returning to nonprofit work, dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of children not only in the United States, but around the world.
